During the past 17 years with the assistance of many partner organizations the
Massachusetts Army National Guard (MAARNG) has sponsored and hosted
wildland fire training at Camp Edwards. Training classes are offered free of charge
to students with the intent of furthering wildland fire suppression and prescribed fire
within Massachusetts and among the MAARNG’s many partner agencies

The Environmental and Readiness Center (E&RC) at Camp Edwards on Joint Base Cape Cod (JBCC) was created in January 2001 by the Massachusetts National Guard (MANG) in order to provide the expertise and resources necessary to follow through on its commitment to provide realistic training for National Guard and other Soldiers while protecting the environment of the Upper Cape Water Supply Reserve and the Camp Edwards Training Area.

The mission of the ERC is to integrate protection of the environment with compatible military training within the Upper Cape Water Supply Reserve and the Camp Edwards Training Area.

The MANG at Camp Edwards employs professionals working in the areas of community outreach, natural and cultural resources management, environmental compliance, hazardous waste handling and reduction, and training area and venue improvements
